USB Missile Rocket Launcher

Missile Launcher

The “launcher” can be plugged into any usual standard USB port. The software lets you control the elevation and azimuth. If you have locked the target, push FIRE and a foam missile is launched by the computer, with missile sound effects!

You could also tape a web cam to it. It keeps visitors on their toes
seeing a missile launcher tracking them around!
The missiles have a range of about 3 meters, but as the missiles are made of foam, you are unlikely to do any damage(unless they land in your coffee).

The Computer controlled missile launcher contains: three foam missiles and PC software CD containing ‘Radar’ type control panel. It can be controlled by mouse or keyboard and it generates missile launch sound effects. It is suitable for children aged 5 years+ but includes detachable parts, so supervision is recommended for younger children. Waterproof Audio Player from JVC

the JVC audio player

JVC launched the “latest” audio player with the code name XA-AW33-W. I believe JVC. The features of this digital audio player are amazing:

It is waterproof and can float on water, just like a rubber ducky that can sing any song you want it to. The water resistance of this player is very high: 30 minutes under 1 meter deep water. Music files can be transferred by USB. Works with 4AA batteries (that means that
there is no way you’ll die of electrocution).

The JVC digital audio player can play MP3, WMA and also WMA-DRM formats. The
memory for this player is 256MB of memory.

The Intruder - Cell Phone Design

The latest cell phone designed by Dennis Hopkins, “The Intruder” has a concept which some people can relate to a UFO, actually influences from that field is mentioned on his website to. But without the outer space resembling this cell phones design is pretty much targeted at women.

Its diameter is of only 2.5 inches and when closed it is just one third of an inch thick. When opened it measures 5 inches in length and the display holds 220 x 176 pixels. And last but not least, when someone calls you a ring of light appears from the sides of the phone.

The website of Dennis Hopkins doesn’t let you in to all the technology used so for now we just have to say good luck to women that now have at their disposal a phone looking like a powder compact.

Motorola Sunpower

Motorola’s Sunpower phoneAll of todays cell phones are equipped with a rechargeable battery. One of the most important features is how long your battery will hold, both while you are using the phone and while it is on stand-by.

And don’t you hate it when it runs off exactly when your boss wanted to call you about that promotion, or when that party you had to go to was canceled but your phone was dead so you ended up being the goose?

Well, apparently these kind of things happened also to the guys from Motorola, because they decided to develop the first cell-phone that is rechargeable on solar energy. Well it seems like this phone recharges itself taking energy from the sun through his LCD screen. Not to mention that alternative energy sources such as solar energy are the energy sources of the future. It sounds like Motorola have bought themselves place there.

io-Jacket

Although all modern gadgets have the goal to combine good-looks with multifunctional technology and effectiveness, this is so much better then the others! Why? Because you can actually wear it! It has all the cool stuff in it like a Bluetooth and built-in MP3 player or touch sensitive control pads. But the ability through which its promoted is its compatibility with GPSoverIP. It uses a hybrid GPS technology which enables you to look for the person wearing the jacket even inside a building. The person who wears the io-Jacket can upload the information to a mobile phone or to the internet giving the watcher (probably a deranged parent) the opportunity of observing his/her every move. Londefrey, the company which produces it has sold one for humanitarian causes carrying out an auction in the purpose of saving money for the “Humans for Humans” foundation. It seems though that none other have been made for commercial purposes so we just have to sit and wait.

HDR-CX camrecorder by Sony

HDR-CX

Sony has announced the release of three new models of camcorders that are smaller, lighter and smarter compared to the former stars of Sony. In the picture you can see the HDR-CX model, Sony’s first flash-based HD camcorder. Sony proclaims this model as “the smallest and lightest AVCHD HD camcorder” available now on the market. It can record up to 30 minutes of high quality 1080i video on its 4 GB Pro Duo Memory Stick. You can buy it for 1200$, which is a definite competitor price for Panasonic and their line of HDC cameras.

The other models Sony released are SR5 and SR7. Both cameras provide with a 2.7 inch LCD screen on which you can admire the videos you are taking. You can also look at a thing from a closer angle from now on, thanks to their 10x optical zoom. The SR5 has memory of 40 GB and can shoot up to five hours of 1080i HD AVCHD video. In this chapter, the SR7 gives it a lesson with its 60 GB of internal memory and the ability of shooting up to 14 hours of 1080i video. You can buy the SR5 model for 1100$ and the SR& for 1400$.

Momenta Next Generation PC

Did you ever feel like you are so into your computer that it practically has you by the throat? Well, this next generation Momenta is designed to sits around your throat.

Yes, that collar that this woman is wearing is a PC. I’m sure you are wondering how it can function without any type of visible display. There is apparently a projector in front of the apparatus, so your information will be seen on any nearby blank wall. The user can then touch the displayed screen, and the Momenta somehow knows where your fingers have been.

The Momenta can also sync wirelessly with any display with wide coverage of 700 MHz. Another one of the more interesting features of this device is that it can record the last five minutes of your life. Apparently, it can sense your increased your heart rate, and then cameras in the Momenta come on. You now have your memory (or lack thereof) stored in digital file for safekeeping.

The Momenta uses a Windows-based operating system, and is filled with other peripherals. Right now, the Momenta is a concept design for the NextGen PC Design Competition, so it probably won’t be available soon.

Who knows, maybe this will catch on, and soon everyone will be walking around with Momenta PCs on their necks. That way, the evil machines can possess us a lot easier. Okay, that was a little too negative, but I suppose it is the collar look of the Momenta that makes me feel this way. I think all the positives that I mentioned above far outweigh any potential negatives, though.

Pillete

Pillete

Pillete, the new concept of Bluetooth headset is so tiny, it’s almost invisible to the untrained eye when you are wearing it. So you don’t have to worry anymore about looking like Robocop when walking down the street with it, but you have to consider the possibility of people starting to think you’ve lost your marbles and you’re talking to yourself.

The downside is the fact that people have different sized ears and the device might be to small and slip out or to big and not fit. People who often use earphones will tell you I’m right. But once they’ll figure out a way to make the Pillete adjustable, this design will be the future of all headsets.

CPR Resuscitation Pad Makes Life Saving Easier

Statistics show that CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) can increase the chances of a victim surviving by up to 50%. That’s five lives saved out of every 10 instances of the process. The problem is that many people, even those who are CPR certified, perform the action inaccurately, sometimes causing even more damage than was present in the first place.

But not all is lost, even for those who are unlucky enough to have a possibly fatal heart attack among a crowd with no CPR experience. The CPR-PAD by the aptly named designer Ryan Helps aids the administrator to accurately perform CPR using proper rhythm and hand positioning thanks to its intuitive design and features.

The CPR-PAD uses a body diagram with key body parts marked for positioning, along with the aid of a blinking power light which tells the life saver when to compress the patients chest, and more importantly, where to press. When the proper pressure is achieved, the CPR-PAD will click in place to notify the user that no more pressure is needed for that thrust.

Essentially, the CPR-PAD is easy enough to use for someone who has never performed CPR in their life. A gadget such as this could help save many lives for those who experience traumatizing injuries in public places. The recent death of Tim Russert really brings the execution of CPR home. Who knows if he could have been saved.

Need To Know The Time Down To A Millionth Of A Second?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByZ76PwrX80

Much like Pi, the measurement of time stretches into the reaches of infinity. It’s actually pretty mind boggling if you think about it too long. Most clocks worry solely about the hours, minutes and seconds. If you’re lucky you have a stop-watch that reaches into the fractal confines of the second, maybe providing the tenth and hundredth of a second measurement.

The Digital Time concept by Freddie Yauner goes much, much further than that. Time changes so fast at the atomic level that many of us couldn’t even follow the changing of the numeral representation of time. The Digital Time measures the atomic time down to the millionth of a second!

Displaying up to 12 digits at once, The Digital Time is about as accurate of a time piece as you’re going to get. Other than acting as a cool design piece or a measurement for horse races, we don’t see what practical use The Digital Time provides. But we must admit, it looks pretty cool.

As of now The Digital Time is strictly a conceptual prototype piece. But who knows? Maybe as time goes on (no pun intended) we’ll feel the need to be more, MUCH more accurate with our time-keeping. Though I just can’t imagine someone saying “Hey man, what are you doing at 11:46:05.937467 on Friday?”
